Council releases annual report
T O W N S V I L L E C i t y Council has adopted its 2017- 18 annual report, releasing details ranging from financial figures to information about senior management remuneration and overseas travel expenses.
Mayor Jenny Hill called it the council’s “report card to the community”.
“It paints a very good picture of responsible economic management, as well as still providing for those in our community who need it most," Cr Hill said.
Disclosures show $ 34,478 was spent on overseas travel to Singapore, China, the United States and New Zealand.
Two senior management personnel were paid between $ 300,000 and $ 400,000, one was paid between $ 400,000 and $ 500,000 and another received between $ 200,000 and $ 300,000.
The council turned an underlying surplus of $ 2.8 million.
Chair of the Governance and Finance Committee, Cr Verena Coombe, said the annual report showed the council had laid a strong foundation for future growth and investment.
She said the council transformation program had resulted in $ 31.3 million in savings, including reforms as part of the Nous organisational structure review.
“This report is a testament to the strong financial management that has been a priority for council. We are continually striving to improve how we do business for the benefit of our residents,” Cr Coombe said.
