Promoting positive outlook
LIFE Giving Psychology and Coaching has a new, bigger office and it’s got some of the best views in Townsville.
The clinic has opened on the sixth floor of The Stanton Centre in Leichardt St, North Ward, with much of the office having ocean views.
They have moved from Fullham Rd in Pimlico to the centre, where they join other health- related practices.
Life Giving Psychology and Coaching director Dr Christine O’Connor said the primary reason for the move was the need for larger rooms to accommodate new services planned for 2019.
“We are developing new initiatives based on a broader solution- focused and preventive approach to mental health and wellness,” she said. “This will include a suite of new services offered to businesses across North Queensland.
“Psychology has much to offer our community. It is not just for those experiencing mental health problems.
“Rather, psychology is all about helping people under- stand how they make sense of themselves and others.
“Such understanding is fundamental to developing healthy workplaces and optimal social connections.”
Life Giving Psychology and Coaching has seven psychologists on staff, offering a broad range of psychological services. Dr O’Connor said the practice had experienced an increase in clients seeking its services.
“Our practice, like others in Townsville, has experienced significant increase in demand for psychology services across all areas,” she said.
“We see this as a reflection, not only of the current stressors people are facing, but also, the result of them being more self aware, more educated about mental health and more open to seeking treatment and preventive options.
“This has led to a steady breakdown of the stigma surrounding mental health. It’s now much more ‘ normal’ to consult a psychologist or life coach.”
LGPC’s new direction will not impede its psychology and counselling services.
