Rosy outlook has CES Civil moving forward
A TOWNSVILLE- based construction firm is looking to an improving local market, acquiring and renovating a new headquarters in Idalia.
CES Civil, a civil and construction contractor delivering projects across North Queensland and southeast Queensland, acquired a site at 11 Oonoonba Rd.
It has refurbished the building to provide a modern, custom- designed 200sq m office and 400sq m storage area for plant and equipment.
Director Damien Roy said the firm was expanding on the back of improving economic conditions and confidence.
“We are gearing up our workforce, plant and equipment for what we see as an improvement in civil and construction project opportunities,” he said. “Government funding for projects such as the stadium, Haughton pipeline and spending in defence has triggered a number of smaller projects that have been on the drawing board for a while.
“We are now seeing some of these tenders coming through and we expect this to ramp up over the next couple of years.”
CES Civil employs about 20 people in defence, council and State Government infrastruc- ture projects and has been involved in work to expand the Townsville port. It also undertakes work in southeast Queensland and northern NSW from an Brisbane office.
Mr Roy said the business model offered the flexibility to work in regional areas across North Queensland and scale up quickly when needed. This had allowed it to deliver on projects across the region. “CES Civil is a family firm so my wife Simone and I spend a lot of time working in the business,” Mr Roy said.
“The new office was a strategic acquisition as we live in Fairfield Waters so we are now very close to work, allowing us more time to spend with our two young boys and get to work quickly and easily.”
