The 28- year- old Townsville Blackhawks player said he knew how important it was to have a mentor.

“My main thing is, growing up, why I did start with ( developing) the kids was because I didn’t really have a role model how I grew up,” he said. “If I can change one person’s life then it’s worth it … just to help them on the right path of life and not make the same mistakes I did when I was their age.”

Growing up in Sydney’s western suburbs, Dodd got “caught up in the wrong crowd” but managed to get back on track through sport.

Dodd said that’s why one of the pillars of his personal training business, Fitness Leviticus, was helping people reach a physical goal and giving emotional support.

“They call it the silent killer and I know many people close to me who I have lost through depression,” he said. “My main goal is to help people get through, get their physical goals right, be a person they can lean on.” Keep connected this cyclone season with a Ryobi 1200W petrol generator.
