AUSTRALIAN cricketing legend Mitchell Johnson has returned to Townsville for his 20year high school reunion. Posting a photo on Instagram with Castle Hill in the background, Johnson captioned the photo: “# theville # 20yearscho­olreunion # itsheating­up”. He also shared a photo of The Ville Resort- Casino’s pool bar, another thanking Strand Fitness North Shore “for a quality session” and another with his brother Adam running stairs up Castle Hill. “Midge” reached the peak of internatio­nal cricket and retired from Test duty as one of the most fearsome bowlers in Australian history. He attended Pimlico State High School, graduating in 1998, where his first love was actually tennis. Johnson was then talent spotted by legendary paceman Dennis Lillee at a Brisbane bowling clinic when he was playing for the Wanderers. “It was a terrific place to grow up and some of my best memories are from my Townsville days,” Johnson said. VETERAN Davin Bretherton affectiona­tely known as “Bear” returned to Townsville this week after competing in wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball and sailing at the Invictus Games in Sydney. He was proudly wearing his gold medal for rugby and silver for sailing. He was also lucky enough to score a selfie with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle. The Invictus Games is an internatio­nal sporting event founded by the prince for serving and former serving Defence personnel.
