FRIEND TO FIRE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS GO HEAD TO HEAD FOE FELGLER MAKING STRIDES USMAN’S BID FOR TEST SPOT

TOWNSVILLE Fire captain Suzy Batkovic and former Fire star Cayla George will clash in one the most anticipated showdowns of the WNBL season when the Fire host the Melbourne Boomers on Sunday.

The pair powered Townsville to three WNBL championships but now face off against each other at Townsvlle Stadium for the first time since winning last season’s WNBL championship together.

George and her Boomers teammates roll into Townsville tomorrow after beating the Sydney Flames 96- 79 overnight, and while there is plenty of intrigue surrounding the showdown between Batkovic and George, Batkovic is unfazed by her old teammate’s return.

“I know a lot of people go on about when someone leaves, but we don’t really worry about it to be honest. It’s not part of our prep,” Batkovic said.

“We’re more making sure we have the scout down pat to try and force them out of what they like to do.”
