SUBURBAN Parks captain Mark Taviani has described his side’s fourwicket win over Norths as a “bit of a wake- up” call as they chase a third straight A- grade premiership this season.

The runs were flowing at Endeavour Park on Saturday as Norths posted 3- 238 thanks to an unbeaten century from opening batsman Gareth Sim.

Sim scored 135 from 124 balls including a 118- run stand with Adam Zabala ( 41) as Sub Parks’ bowling attack struggled to make an impact, with Justin Dixon ( 1- 55), Bradley Radford ( 1- 24), and Jake Heers ( 1- 21) picking up a wicket each.

In reply, Norths pair Sam Collingwood ( 4- 53) and Sean Howe ( 1- 58) struck early as they removed Trent Walsh and Jason Shephard both for golden ducks.

Sub Parks were on the back foot at 3- 11 before Taviani ( 97) and Chris Gartrell ( 40) rescued their run chase with a 92- run partnership.

Taviani fell agonisingly short of triple figures, but Radford ( 56no) and Dixon ( 9no) were able to guide Sub Parks home with two overs to spare.

The win keeps Sub Parks’ perfect record intact this season with six wins from six games, but Taviani felt they still had room for improvement after leaking too many runs against Norths.

“I’d say it was probably our poorest bowling performance for a while. Not to take anything away from Gareth, who batted really well for them, but
