FOND FAREWELLS: St Patrick's College captains Sherree Wadham, 17, and Anna Chapman, 16, ahead of their final day of school today. Picture ALIX SWEENEY FOR Year 12 students in Townsville and around the state, today will mark the last time their days are timed by the school bell.

It’s the last day of school for Queensland seniors, with many marking the end of their secondary education with formals this evening or heading off to Schoolies tomorrow.

St Patrick’s College captains Anna Chapman, 16, and Sherree Wadham, 17, were two of the students set to farewell their school for the last time and said they were excited and sad to take their next step.

“This week has been exciting but also scary. We’re about to enter the real world and wait for our OPs to come out and see where the next couple of years will take us,” Anna said.

“Everyone will have the tissues ready to say the hard goodbyes but we’ll definitely stay connected through the sisterhood that we’ve formed.

“We’ve made connections, each year that’s gone past we’ve had big sisters and now it’s our turn to say goodbye to our little sisters,” Sherree said.

Sherree said she hoped to study a dual degree in engineering and aviation and Anna hoped to achieve a place in a dual degree in international relations and law.
