Townsville Bulletin

Deterrent, not police

-

I REFER to the page 3 article ( TB, 12- 11- 18) “Palm workers beef up break- in security”.

The obvious question to be asked is, will the same form of protection be given to the senior citizens of Townsville who have been affected by criminals breaking into their houses causing damage, stealing vehicle keys and then vehicles. There is an article on page 4 ( TB 13- 11- 18) whereby an elderly woman has had items stolen, so is the Palaszczuk Labor Government going to offer the same sort of protection to our senior citizens?

The so- called elected representatives have gone to ground somewhere on this issue and any other matter if there are no cameras around. Aaron Harper is still flapping his gums about 53 more police officers. Mr Harper it’s not more police we want it’s a deterrent to be put in place to prevent crime. I also noticed in the same edition on page 11 that Cairns MP Michael Healey got hot under the collar just because of offensive slogans on a couple of campervans in the city.

The electronic media on November 11 showed a segment on the recreational swimming pool at the Brisbane detention centre being trashed by inmates ripping the hand rails off the walls etc with the guards just looking on. I assume the pool is now emptied as a response to this wanton criminal damage.
