END OF ERA FOR BRITISH INDIA

- KELSIE IORIO

AUSSIE rockers British India will take the stage in Townsville this weekend for an electric set full of hits.

The Melbourne fourpiece’s massive national tour will celebrate the decadelong career of guitarist Nic Wilson, who has announced he will retire from music at the end of 2018.

British India ( pictured) started in 2007, quickly transforming from a garage band to an ARIA Award- nominated radio favourite, releasing six albums and notching up eight entries into the Triple J Hottest 100.

The band has supported the likes of Fall Out Boy and The Rolling Stones on tour.

Wilson said British India became bigger than the band could have expected.

“The three lads in the band were the three best men at my wedding and the three best men to play a part in my life,” he said. “Thank you for the memories everybody. ‘ Rock ’ n roll, I gave you the best years of my life’.”

British India are also set to perform at the Under The Southern Stars festival in January alongside massive names like the Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, The Superjesus, The Getaway Plan, Eskimo Joe and Sheppard.

Their current tour will be the last chance for fans to see the original line- up perform together.

British India play at The Office on November 23. Tickets from $ 34 at tickets. oztix. com. au.

This event is 18+.
