FROM FLEDGLING SETUPS BRINGING DOUGHNUT AND FLOWER WALLS TO PARTIES TO BUSINESSWO­MEN AND BUSY MUMS BRANCHING OUT TO RUN THEIR OWN FIRMS, TOWNSVILLE HAS A WIDE RANGE OF TALENT OFTEN FLYING UNDER THE RADAR. HERE ARE FIVE SMALL BUSINESSES DOING GREAT THINGS IN TOWNSVILLE.

I AM Danielle Pattinson, owner of To The Wall Hire.

I have been in business since November 2017, we turn one on Friday!

The thing I love most about my job is the exciting variety of events we get to attend and all the amazing people that we meet along the way.

I can’t start my morning without coffee.

I can’t stop watching The Good Place.

My favourite spot in Townsville to unwind is along the beach at Pallarenda.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone getting into business it would be to find what you love and just give it a go.

This time next year I hope to be still loving what I do and adding to our hire range.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone getting into business it would be to manage your time carefully and never stop believing in yourself.

This time next year I hope to be in my own commercial space, I want to buy not rent.

I have been in business for over a decade as a graphic designer within the print industry, but made the switch to freelance almost three years ago after the birth of my second daughter.

The thing I love most about my job is that I love being creative in a lot of different ways.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone getting into business it would be say yes to new opportunit­ies. It’s something I’ve tried to adopt myself this year.

Next, the amazing Lauren and Douglas. Dania’s imagery is breathtaki­ng and I’m constantly mesmerised by her talents. I AM Chantelle Bakis, 31, from Crossword Creations. I have been in business since April 2018.

The thing I love most about my job is creating the frames as it gives me a creative outlet.

I can’t start my morning without a good workout and coffee.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone getting into business it would be to make sure you have a plan, a goal and a good attitude. Things won’t always go to plan but persistenc­e is key.

This time next year I hope my business has doubled by this time next year; I have so many amazing customers and word of mouth has been amazing.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone getting into business it would be to be true to yourself, do what you love and love what you do.

This time next year I hope to be in a bigger, better place.
