KATTER ART IS GOLD

-

PEOPLE would not be surprised to know that Robbie Katter loves Queensland’s most famous amber liquid — XXXX Gold.

But what might be a surprise is that the Traeger MP also has an eye for the finer things in life, like art.

And he has managed to combine the two pastimes with colourful results.

Judging by the photos Katter took to the task of creating his masterpiece called Elixir of Truth somewhat seriously.

“This work is something contemporary and relevant to our area that is part of our life,” Katter said when asked about the inspiration.

“Elixir of Truth means it’s the heart of a good conversation and part of what’s great about Mount Isa and the North West.

“It represents something that is bringing us together out here where’s it hot and a coldie is always welcome.”

Spoken liken a true artist, Robbie.

The flash of artistic talent was all for a good cause.

It was sold earlier this year at the Mount Isa Rodeo Queen Quest’s Art Gala Auction, which was raising money for the State Emergency Service.

The biggest question – how much did it raise? It was $ 330 – not bad at all. NORTH Queensland Senator Ian Macdonald ( left), who is from Ayr, was banished to a place that was a touch cooler this week.

In Federal Parliament on Monday Foreign Minister Marise Payne ( right) was commenting on a story that said that after the disastrous Victorian election, NSW state Liberals wanted to send ScoMo to Siberia to get him out of the way of their state election in March. Amid a raucous chamber Senator Payne said there would be an enormous amount of enthusiasm in the NSW Labor Party for a one- way ticket to Siberia for Senator Macdonald. Whoops! She was quick, but not quick enough, to correct that to Labor’s NSW Senator Doug Cameron.
