Curtain spreads the word

-

AN OUTBACK musician with a close connection to the parents of Amy “Dolly” Everett is taking his song inspired by the teen on a tour around regional Queensland and beyond.

Multi- award winning Katherine artist Tom Curtain’s tour will take in Alice River, Julia Creek and beyond.

Curtain was inspired to write Speak Up following the death of Dolly Everett after she was bullied. His aim was to raise money and awareness for the charity Dolly’s Dream.

Speak Up topped the iTunes country music chart.

Curtain is also set to tour schools to promote the message and prevent further tragedies as a result of bullying.

“I will be sharing my story of growing up in drought on our family farm, and the challenges we have experienced in getting to where we are today, together with the Speak Up message on behalf of Dolly’s Dream,” he said.

Curtain said he wanted to share his performance with communities who wouldn’t usually see musicians tour in their areas.

“Many of these communities are in drought and need something to look forward to, to make them smile and allow them to forget about their worries for a couple of hours,” he said.

Catch Tom Curtain at Hughenden Campdraft Grounds on December 7; and the Ultimate Rural Training Centre at Alice River on December 9 or visit www. tomcurtain. com. au for more dates.
