Taylor puts on a show
THERE are millions of Game of Thrones fans around the world but Townsville’s Taylor Cason has permanent proof of how much she loves the show.
The 23-year-old’s left leg is covered in tattoos, inspired by one of the show’s most wellknown characters, Daenerys Targaryen.
“I got hooked on the show and I loved the character that Daenerys Targaryen is, I guess just an empowered woman,” Ms Cason said.
“Everything on my leg is connected to her and her story.”
The first tattoo on Ms Cason’s leg was done about two years ago – an image of Daenerys Targaryen – on her shin.
“It just kind of went from there, I did the lower half of my leg, and then I kind of stopped because there was a seventh season coming out,” Ms Cason said.
“I had to make sure there was some room for whoever might need an area.”
After stopping work on her leg while she waited for Game of Thrones to start she had work done on her back.
“I got a whole back piece done, which is a Japanese dragon,” she said.
“Then season seven came out and I finished my leg.”
Ms Cason said over two years she spent about four hours getting inked each fortnight, which cost about $20,000.
All the tattoos were done by Brenton Eldridge, who goes by the artist name of Moony at Crossbones Gallery in Penrith, NSW.
Ms Cason’s leg, which is now covered, is the only area of her body that is Game of Thrones related.
With the final season of the hit show starting on Foxtel’s Showcase on April 15, Ms Cason said she did not have any room left on her leg to fit more of the story.
“I can’t wait for the new season. There’s lot of people dropping myths about what they think might happen,” she said.
Ms Cason said she received a few looks from people because of how many tattoos she had.
“You see people that are covered in tattoos and I like the way they look as a person, some people suit it and some people don’t, and I like to think I do,” she said.
“Being a female covered in tattoos, everyone looks twice at you.
“I get a lot of the older ladies that can’t take their eyes off you.”
Fans have waited for over a year for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones.
The HBO fantasy drama based on the novels by George RR Martin has a huge following around the world.
