Plan to break hoodoo

- TRAVIS MEYN

CHRIS Lynn says the Heat are determined to break their Gabba duck.

The in-form Heat will face the Sydney Thunder at the Gabba tonight searching for their first win in Brisbane this summer.

While the Gabba is Lynn’s favourite place to play in the world, the Heat have rarely had a good time on home soil.

The Heat have lost both Big Bash League matches at their Brisbane home this season and have a deplorable overall record of 11 wins and 21 losses at the Gabba.

They also lost two home matches taken to Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast this summer.

With only a 34 per cent win record in Brisbane, the “Gabbatoir” has been far from a happy hunting ground for the Heat.

The Heat will return home tonight after trouncing the Renegades by 101 runs on Sunday and captain Lynn said it was time Brisbane delivered at home.

“I’d love to get a win at the Gabba in front of the fans who have been amazing so far,” he said.

“It’s the best cricket wicket in the world. there.

“It’s something we’re trying to combat. Our record is not great but it is what it is. All we can do is play what’s in front of us.

“We’re going to try a couple of different things and I love playing hopefully they pay off. There is no point doing the same thing because our record will stay the way it is. I won’t give too much away now. We’ll soon find out.”

The Heat have been forced into making changes with Joe Burns, Matt Ren- shaw and Marnus Labuschagne playing a Cricket Australia XI tour match against Sri Lanka in Hobart from today.

After rolling the Renegades for 91, it’s unlikely Brisbane will make any bowling changes, but batsman Sam Heazlett could earn a recall after being dropped earlier in the tournament.

Despite starting the season with three straight losses, the Heat have bounced back to sit sixth on the ladder at the halfway mark of the tournament.
