England’s top order fails the Test

-

ENGLAND’S revamped top order has buckled as it reached 4-114 on the first afternoon of the third Test against the West Indies.

Opener Keaton Jennings, back just one game after being axed, had a troubled stay and could have been out twice before he nicked to slip for just eight at St Lucia’s Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. Rory Burns (29) and Joe Denly (20) fared somewhat better but neither looked secure at the crease and were dispatched lbw in successive overs. Keemo Paul, chosen to replace banned West Indies captain Jason Holder, justified the decision by accounting for Jennings and Burns, with Shannon Gabriel too quick for Denly.

Captain Joe Root waved his bat at a wider delivery from Alzarri Joseph and feathered behind.
