Townsville Bulletin

Now get ready for a roasting

- KEAGAN ELDER

TOWNSVILLE is set to bake in near heatwave conditions this week.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Vinord Anand said it would also be a very dry week with only a slim chance of rain at the weekend.

“It will get up to 35-36C over the next four to five days – at least 3-5C above average,” he said. “It’s probably a low-intensity heatwave for the Townsville region.”

Severe heatwave conditions are forecast for parts of the Queensland coast from tomorrow until Friday as winds blow in from the west but Mr Anand said Townsville was on the margin of that area.

He said temperatures would be even higher in the regions, reaching 38C by the end of the week in Ingham and Charters Towers.
