Fatal Utah avalanche

A UTAH man is dead after an avalanche buried him while he was snowmobiling about 70km northwest of Salt Lake City.

Summit County officials say the slide, triggered near Coalville, trapped the man in deep snow.

Two fellow riders reportedly dug the victim out after about half an hour.

However the 49-year-old man was declared dead soon after emergency services arrived on the scene and transferred him to a hospital.

His name was being withheld until family members were notified.
