Hands off our super

-

LABOR is coming after our superannuation and, no matter what they say, Bill Shorten has had this plan for years.

Many conversations around superannuation have always included, “the Government will want to get their hands on it one day”.

Labor fails to realise that to give people incentive to work and save, (and not be a burden on the welfare system), you must allow ordinary working people to see the benefit of hard work and saving in the first place.

Or maybe Labor/greens/get Up want all of us to be totally equal in old age, (not politicians, but us stupid taxpayers).

Social media is rife with the younger generation saying that the Baby Boomers are too well off, own too much real estate and it is time they let it go.

We of the Baby Boomer age worked very hard to save in our working life, where credit cards did not exist.

We used our cloth nappies over and over, we worked to pay off a house, we re-used our glass, we survived on simple foods, valued the ethic of hard work and reward for labour.

We did not dispose of a mobile phone just to get a better plan. We did not pay more for water than we do for fuel, and we did not expect the Government to bring our children up or tell us what we can say or eat.

The generation post World War II set up our country for the wealth, safety and economic boom that has given us the nation we have today.

We did not have an “entitled” attitude because there were fewer “entitlements” then. Yet now governments will promise dollars that they do not have, give you entitlements that are not paid for by our economy and tell you that they create jobs.

We have a freedom to work and gain some security in our old age, or we can whittle away our money and enjoy life.

So, at the end of our life, we get a nasty socialist driven opposition (of whom very few have ever held a private job, go on … fact check it) tell us that we want what you have worked for, paid tax already on and have tucked away for a rainy day.

We want that money so we can spend it on every single thing that most taxpayers are sick and tired of hearing about.

Labor/green/get Up have eyed that massive super fund off since Bill Shorten was minster for superannuation in the last Labor government.

They hate the thought of us older generation actually being able to enjoy our old age, take a caravan around Australia, go on a trip or leave some little nest egg for our families.

They are so hell bent on gaining government, that they will promise anything, take anything and do anything to get back in to further their agenda. Because it is their agenda that drives them, not wanting to look after Australians.

Australians do not trust the super industry, just like they did not trust the banks.

After all, dangling trillions of dollars in front of any government, would make them drool at the mouth.

However, it is our trillions they are coming for.

DEBRA GIBSON,

Pinnacles.
