I have generally been a Labor supporter and have been voting for 45 years. I have never ever voted for the LNP and while I agree with a lot of the independents and minor parties I think the most important issue at the moment is to not have a federal Labor govt, especially living in regional Qld. Therefore for the first time in my life I will vote LNP. I also voted for the state ALP at last election. Never again. Bob 4817 How much was handed out to the so called refugees for whitegoods/ furniture? We get a $1000 from the Feds and still waiting to receive from State Gov. It’s time politicians stop talking and start caring for our own. Nev JB Mt Louisa, Yes, many times. D. Bilton w /end

RS Hermit Park - personal income tax was only split between general revenue and the National Welfare Fund between 1945 and 1950. Since then all pensions are paid out of general revenue, there is no specific government pension contribution. PK Annandale

It amazes me that people when they see that maybe there could be a flood they race in to the supermarket and panic buy whatever they can and bugger anyone else and they don’t think about losing power and all that food spoiling. Oh well maybe next time these people will think about other people as well as themselves and just buy what you would normally buy leaving some for others John A Smith Ayr

Lock the Gate’s Carmel Flint accuses the victim of radical environmental bullies, Adani, of being the bully. Further she asserts the company that has faced & defeated numerous vexatious time stalling appeals, must obey the law. Hello Carmel, Adani has! Where was Carmel & LTGA when protesters were chained illegally to train lines & Abbot Pt. If Carmel Flint was fair dinkum, she would have to admit to being a hypocrite. Pedro Cranbrook

Concerned Annandale resident you are correct it was well stated at the time the port access bridge should have been designed with driven piles for abutment approaches to allow floodwaters to flow through, not earth ramps which hold water back. But the big picture starts when they land filled flood plain Fairfield Waters then Fairways then The Village town planning causing a lot of the problems then comes very quistionable dam management during the flood event bob 4816

Debra Gibson, Bill Shorten wants to be the prime minister at all costs and would sell us Aussies out at any opportunity, just like Bob Hawke did. But people are dumb and stupid, they are the ones he targets. glen 4817

Oh thanks, for a small mercy that Debra Gibson’s constant, contradicting, self interest babble is balanced by Glenn White’s insightful, educated, observation. Teresa Ch Tws.

As if we weren’t doing it tough enough before the flood, now it seems most businesses aren’t covered for flood damage. I always thought water was water, but there obviously are different types, all accords where it comes from. I can’t see insurers handing out money unless they have to. Disastrous. Ags Hermit Pk

I didn’t know you couldn’t carry medication in your car and that poor woman being fined $500 for carrying capsicum spray really.why is it against the law to protect yourself. I’m a single lady retired I go out regularly day and night and I think it is my right to protect myself against scumbags who try to steal my car or worse and I always carry something to protect myself. Go out and catch the real crims. Shameful. L.G. Wulguru
