Credits plan is Labor push on class warfare

-

I AM a 74-year-old self-funded retiree.

I have worked in a family small business for 60 years until I was 62 years old, when we sold it.

I have my super, together with my wife, some cash and some shares, and we have been OK. We were advised to have the majority of our shares in companies that had franking credits, eg banks etc. Then along comes Mr. Shorten, stating that if elected, he will remove the refund of the already taxed franking credit, which we used to rely on to enable us to have a reasonable amount of money to retire on.

I thought that he was not serious when he first mentioned it, but he really is. Tonight’s news he said he would not be changing his mind, and that would be Labor policy. Mr. Albanese also was emphatic that it would remain policy.

Does the Labor Party not realise that most if not all retirees have shares in their retirement funds and how they will be affected as Labor supporters as well?

They, Labor, are so envious of people who have progressed and hate those who have achieved anything; that includes people like us who have worked 12-14 hours, six days a week, not had a luxurious life, but brought up our families within our means, have saved a bit of a nest egg for our retirement, only to hear that Mr. shorten is threatening us in this manner. No pension, reduced income if they get in. The Greens want to reintroduce wealth tax, succession tax and death duties.

Please, people of this wonderful country, do not be fooled by the Labor Party that they are for ordinary man, whoever that is? If they get into power, we will all be in trouble. A.A. MUSUMECI, Home Hill.
