Showgrounds the stop for big races
THREE big feature races including the Gallipoli Cup 4/5th Grade Final over 498m headline tonight’s 12-race greyhounds program at the Townsville Showgrounds.
Race 6 is the TGRC Gallipoli Cup 4/5th Grade Final over 498m.
The favourite should be Dundee Jive (1) for Michael Pandelakis.
She began well last week from box four to lead throughout for a new PB 29.01 scoring by 3.5 lengths.
She has drawn well and will be hard to catch.
Zipping Irwin (2) for Matthew Mcguire ran a very good race last week matching it with Dundee Jive for a long way. He will be better for the run, a big danger to the favourite.
Kenna (3) for Heath Ardle, pinged the lids last week from box four to lead all the way in 29.15 scoring by 2.25 lengths. She has drawn well again, each way claims.
Race 7 is the TGRC Easter Sprint over 380m.
Joan Newnham has two starters in this final, Dalmatynski (8) who won his heat last week from box four in 21.75 scoring by 7.75 lengths. He has drawn wide and will need to jump well to get across field, each way claims.
Old mate Kick (3) won his heat from box two last week in 22.02 scoring by 4.25 lengths. He has drawn well and could be a big chance, place chance.
Glen Olsen also has two finalists, Slow Dancer (1) is ideally drawn close to the rails, all she needs to do is jump to win.
Nicmac Lass (4) ran third last week from box eight behind Old Mate Kick, has drawn closer in, place chance.
Sharhelian Star (6) for Arthur Gosper hasn’t fared well in the draw, but she can begin and should be up there with the race’s frontrunners, and is the a place chance. Race 8 is the Angliss Meats Townsville ANZAC Day Open Trophy over 498m.
Poppy Chooky (1) for Heath Ardle will start favourite. He can begin and will be hard to beat from here, each way claims.
Jay Schafer has two starters in this, Natty’s On Fire (2) can begin on her night and will be hard to catch on the bunny.
Queen of Cawdor (8) prefers the inside draw and may sneak a place.
Innocent man (3) for Glen Olsen has been out of form recently but gets his chance tonight, place chance.
