Luxurious touch

High-end apartments to wow buyers

- TONY RAGGATT

DEVELOPERS are promising the best apartment project Townsville has seen with the launch of the $50 million Marina Residences project on the Strand.

A four-level display suite developed inside containers was launched at events last week. Maidment Group managing director Glen Maidment said the response had been “enormous”.

“There has been a much better response than we anticipated, an enormous amount of interest,” Mr Maidment said.

The developers are building 11 marina-front homes and 16 oversized apartments over a 5000sq m site in Mariners Drive.

Mr Maidment said the aim was to deliver a high-end boutique residential development fitted to the best specifications of fixtures and fittings that Townsville has seen.

This included the best veneer finishes, bespoke joinery and appliances by Gaggenau. Liveability drawing on home automation, lighting control, voice automation and airconditioning control would also be features.

“To complement the location we have gone for the very best,” Mr Maidment said. Prices for the lower-level apartments start around $1.35 million with the marina-front homes and oversized apartments ranging up to $2 million.

Colliers International Townsville agent Neville Smith, who helped negotiate the sale of the land, said there was no better site to showcase the Maidment Group’s vision.

“It’s going to be an amazing project and a benchmark for Townsville in the prestige unit market,” Mr Smith said.

The site had originally been proposed for a 71-unit, 16-storey tower by national developer Mirvac.

Maidment acquired the site with those approvals intact but opted for lower density and a more high-end development.
