Join the club and reap the rewards

-

SPORT is a massive part of the Townsville community and lifestyle, and being a member of your local leagues club combines huge benefits with being a part of that community.

Brothers Leagues Club was this year awarded the North Queensland Best Club award by Clubs Queensland for the ninth time, and is one of Townsville’s most beloved and popular clubs.

Chief executive officer Justin Wilkins said there were huge benefits to becoming a member of Brothers.

“Membership for the year is only $2, which gets you membership to two clubs, Brothers and Kirwan Sports Club on Bamford Lane,” Mr Wilkins said.

“Members receive discounts on all food and beverages purchased throughout either club. Members also get access to some terrific promotions and opportunities to win cash and prizes. We currently have a member’s draw which is at $50,000, which all members are eligible to win.

“Brothers membership also allows you entry into other clubs via reciprocal membership.”

Mr Wilkins said the advantages of being a Brothers member didn’t stop there, with the club partnering with a long list of Townsville businesses to deliver great deals.

“For the past two years, Brothers have funded a Rewards Club program which encourages members to shop locally by giving them access to discounts and offers across over 100 local businesses,” he said.

“We see this as an added benefit of joining Brothers, but also a way of encouraging our 40,000 members to shop locally and support the local business community.

“There are offers and discounts across a wide range of business including automotive, cafes, takeaway and restaurants, health and beauty, leisure centres and so many more. All you have to do is show your card at a participating business to access the offer and it’s all part of the $2 club membership.”

For Boost Juice Willows, one of Brothers’ partnering businesses, the response to the program was overwhelming.

Store owner Milissa Pyper said being part of the program had been beneficial in building brand awareness for her business.

“It is great to be a part of an incentive program that supports local businesses,” she said.

“It gives the user access to a range of deals and offers from around town, it creates an awareness of businesses and what they have to offer.”

Mr Wilkins said as well as offering discounts to local shoppers, Brothers Leagues Club was always looking for other avenues to assist the community.

“In 2018 Brothers contributed a total of $730,000 in the form of cash and inkind donations,” he said.

“This was via various charities, sporting organisations, schools and individuals.

“There is an application process available through our website, but we are always looking at ways we can make a positive change in the community.”

Members who join or renew their memberships before July 7 will go into the draw to win one of five $1000 cash prizes at Brothers or one of two $1000 cash prizes at Kirwan Sports, depending on which venue they attend, as well as continuing to enjoy all the benefits associated with joining the club.
