TOWNSVILLE Grammar School principal Timothy Kelly was recently named among the top private school principals, out-earning Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
Mr Kelly, who was appointed at the beginning of 2018 after serving as deputy headmaster of Toowoomba Grammar School, received a total package worth $384,000 during his first year in his new role.
Meanwhile, James Cook University Vice Chancellor Sandra Harding received a raise of at least $60,000 in 12 months, the uni’s annual report reveals.
The university’s top executive earned between $975,000 and $989,999 in 2017 and in 2018 her total remuneration jumped to between $1,050,000 and $1,064,999. This means she received a remuneration increase of between $60,000 and $89,000 — total remuneration includes salary, super and benefits/bonuses.
Ms Harding will this year also earn extra benefits as a director of the Australian American Education Leadership Foundation board but these funds go back to the university.
Performance bonuses can also be paid at the university, capped at 10 per cent for the Deputy Vice Chancellors and 15 per cent for the Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. But any bonus is included in total remuneration.
Townsville Hospital board chair Tony Mooney earned $106,000 in 2018, while board members including Professor Gracelyn Smallwood and Professor Ajay Rane received between $52,000 and $56,000.
Executive director medical services Dr Andrew Johnson earned $599,000 in 2018, while Health Service chief executive Dr Peter Bristow earned $348,000 before resigning in 2018 (Dr Bristow earned $534,000 in 2017).
Townsville HHS chief operating officer Kieran Keyes was paid $300,000 in 2018.
Townsville’s Chief Superintendent Kevin Gutteridge reportedly earns about $174,000, which is a big difference to what chief superintendents make in southern states (above $200,000).
Energy Queensland’s 2017-18 annual report showed CEO David Smales took home a total of $1.05 million.
