LEGAL EAGLE FLIES HIGH AT FIRM

- TONY RAGGATT

A STAR recruit to Mackey Wales Law, Angela Fortt, has been appointed as a principal of the Townsville firm, alongside Terry Fanning and Ross Greatrex.

Ms Fortt joined the firm in 2016, delivering litigation and dispute resolution services.

Mr Greatrex said the firm was receiving an increasing number of inquiries from people seeking dispute resolution services and Ms Fortt’s appointment would support this sector.

“We believe there is a gap in the market for clients requiring assistance with litigation and dispute resolution matters locally,” Mr Greatrex said.

“Angela has considerable experience in this area, including contract and leasing disputes, business disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency, debt recovery, building and construction disputes and estate disputes.

“She is an outstanding lawyer who places the interests of her clients first. Her enthusiasm for the law is contagious and she has made a significant contribution to the firm on many levels since joining us.”

Ms Fortt is also an experienced employment lawyer, acting for employers and employees in proceedings including unfair dismissals, recovery of overpayments and disputes involving intellectual property and confidential information.

Born in Melbourne and raised in Townsville, Ms Fortt completed a Bachelor of Laws with Honours at James Cook University and was admitted as a lawyer in 2007.
