Glenn 4817, I still count my lucky stars, that the LNP won the unlosable election back in May, because a Shorten led government doesn’t bear thinking about. D. Bilton w /end

All those pathetic cowboy supporters who think because they have a bad year it’s the coach’s fault Get a reality check Take the good with the bad, Not every team can make the 8 there gunna be a bottom 8 that’s a fact also the players have not put the effort in that’s their fault not the coaching staff Also above the them are management pulling strings The coach is only allowed to do what they allow that’s why Penrith got rid of Gould and this upper management have to much say. Get a change up there and things would improve their to stale and full of their on ideas not what’s best for the club. Russ Douglas

Glenn 4817, 5/8, seems part of the extreme Labor Left that can’t accept that Labor lost due to socialist over reach and is still blaming voters for Labor’s unexpected loss. His threatening tone is not welcome and will ensure Labor losses for years to come. The world’s economy and wages growth is slowing. Australia is just part of the bigger picture. Imagine how bad it would be if we were now run by Labor’s Venezuela style economic policies, like their promise to use all workers’ taxes to beef up wages for certain unions. We dodged a bullet! Shane. Airlie

Front page TB Friday 02/08 - you travel around Cairns CBD and will see no less than 6 cranes at any given time. Why does this Townsville City Council hate vertical development? It’s time for these Labor Council larrikins to hit the road. How will we maintain our 1 crane quota once the stadium is complete? JR 4810

Kevin Parkes. Remove the three weirs to aid flood mitigation in case of a 1 in 500 year event? So the other 499 years we look at a sandy scrubby dry creek bed, can’t fish, swim or water ski. No thanks. You can’t mitigate for all weather events. Don’t like the height of your house? I suggest you move. Mango Muncher 4812

Can not see how anyone would consider the cri a heritage building just a bloody eyesore.russ alligator creek

Glen 4817, small businesses are going broke from their operating overheads . Wage growth cant happen when its unaffordable . One reason i closed my small business down was i couldnt afford to pay a junior 38 dollars an hour on a sunday to help me . Electricity, insurance and other costs have to ease before small business can pay higher wages for their staff . So dont think small business owners are stuffing loads of money into their pockets its going out on other things . Thomas west end 4810.

This is a message for you Mr Harper. I am probably wasting my time suggesting it but here goes. Change the bail laws tell your boss and other members of the Labor Party running this state that your system is not working. The people want the figures on crimes that are committed by perpetrators who are out on bail. I think that if you are on bail and offend again that should be it, you are locked up. All that happens in this state is the perpetrator gets bail again and again. Look the victims in the eyes and tell them that you stand by your parties views and that things are working, then take a step back and think about your what you have achieved on this issue since you were elected. Blu kirwan

Don’t know where you get your information, Glen 4817, la-la land? Australia has the highest wages in the world! In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve had a once-in-100year flood, and vast tracts of the country are still in severe drought. Maybe that has something to do with the state of the economy? Not even Shorten could control the weather. Ags Hermit Pk

Words fail me Glenn. The economy is taking a battering but it’s the present Government ‘s You can’t replace a coach (Greenie) just because the team plays badly. I watched the Blackhawks games on Sat. plenty of passion there from the players and fans. Well done coaches and teams. Geri. Kelso

fault after only 5 yrs? FYI the previous terms where disastrous but just keep waving that red flag and blame the Tories. M J Reynolds Mt Louisa

Ms Trad’s overseas jaunt was arranged well before her real estate venture came to light. However, her absence seems to have been aranged so she could avoid being asked difficult questions during the Budget Estimates Hearing. One would have thought that in a “transparent” govt the Deputy Premier’s priority would be to attend. What else does she have to hide? Jeff, Condon. “Hello Jackie Trad speaking.” “Good morning boss, Premier Anna here.” “What do you want Anna, make it quick, I’m still jet lagged.” “Sorry boss, aah, 74% of Queenslanders want you to stand down, would you maybe please consider it?” “The hide of you to suggest to me such a thing, NO! And I’ll see you in my office tomorrow.” “Sorry Jackie, sorry boss, please forgive me, I was out of order.” Pedro Cranbrook

Clueless TV presenter, on the Texas shootings, says “all bystanders could do was hide”. Um, no, any armed bystander could

have returned fire and saved their fellow bystanders. Guns, like knives and trucks, are just tools - they aren’t sentient. Tradie, Colorado

Russ Douglas the yanks can stick their missile base in their own backyard not mine. J M Kelso It’s not just Jackie Trad who should be stepping down over that “forgettable” little investment property (TB, 5/8). Anna Bligh, sorry, Anna Palabligh, oops, Annastacia Palaszczuk should, too. The state needs a break from the soft, dead hands of this incompetent ladies collective. Miner, Kelso

For North Queensland Cowboy supporters with short memories this team was built around Ben Barba with no foresight or back up, they still don’t have a seasoned fullback and even though ravaged by injuries many are not performing to NRL standard. Referees have played a part in a few losses but that’s water under the bridge and the buck stops with the coach and recruiting staff. This season is over so start building a strong roster for next year to play at the new stadium, the team’s last performance was abysmal. A great team requires mongrel so if the current coach doesn’t know how to instill it find one who does. Carl. Pimlico.

Steve. B/gdns. Newstart recipients have to meet a criteria or benefit is cut till they comply It is not a pension. We have seen what happens in Qld when your Green Labor lefties allow kiddie crime to go unpunished & other elements as well for that matter. Responsible govt manages the public purse for every Australian’s benefit not the welfare mentality of socialists who drag our country into the quagmire when in govt. Rookie back-benchers don’t carry a big stick Steve but u know that so instead of cheap shots advise comrade Albo & his team to get over their unloseable loss & start acting like a real opposition. WW. C/jong.

TTB Sat 3/8. The Premier patting herself on the back says Right now we investing in water. Right now upgrade to the Bruce etc. Not one word about crime in Townsville. Not one. Why don’t her three so-called members push her about the crime. They don’t seem to say much either. Coop 4814

Kevin Parks is wrong with his assessment of the Ross River dam. If the gates were opened at 70% the level could have been managed. Manual operation during the high tides has to be incorporated into the manual. Mt Louisa Al.

Miner: Everald Compton, a very forward thinking Chairman of the Longevity Innovation Hub is the source of the rail idea along with many other sensible suggestions. Sadly most go unexploited. Bazza Mt Low.

Re Cowboys: We don’t need Laurie Daly - or anyone else from NSW - poking his nose into our business. However, perhaps Dr Lukins could spend more time with the team working on self belief. There is an abundance of talent, it just needs to be harnessed and properly managed. IAH 4814

The 2006 Switkowski inquiry found that nuclear power wasn’t viable here without a $40 carbon tax. Given how much cheaper renewables have become in the years since, and a presumed aversion to taxing carbon, now the LNP wingnuts will ask for massive taxpayer subsidies to prop up some atomic boondoggle. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. Steve, Belgian Gardens

This State Govt is either pandering to the Greens or the Unions, it’s the unions turn, retail has been at a low for quite a while, particularly at Christmas due to Internet shopping, this ALP State Govt wants to drive another nail into the small shop owners by making Christmas eve a public holiday so workers who work will be paid penalty rates, one thing wrong, ebay, Amazon and co will not have to pay those penalty rates. Ron Kelso.

Denise 4817 give the Rays a chance! They are a new team, with team members living in Cairns and Townsville, making training as a team much more difficult than the other teams in the comp who all live in either Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunny Coast and many of these teams would have players who have played together for years. The Rays are starting from a long way behind the teams from the SE but they have fight and determination and are determined to make this work. But it won’t be instant. They have a lot of hard work to do, but also a lot to prove, and a lot to give. NQ needs the pathway that the Rays will provide to all the girls and women of NQ. Come and support them rather than cut them down. And maybe put your money where your mouth is and make a donation to help them in their journey. While travelling to train, they aren’t able to work, which for those at uni makes it hard. The teams down south wouldn’t travel more than half an hour to training and likely train a few times a week. These ladies are putting their hearts and souls into this and deserve some recognition. The rest will come. Don Avale
