Dozen big races for the doggies

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showground­s tonight with a bumper 12-race program.

Race 4 is the Bohle Barn Hotel Motel M/5th Grade over 643m with two good chances.

Looming Lara (7) for Paul Smith is back to the long distance after a good finish and win over the 498m last week, and coming back to her best distance, her fair beginnings and strong Banjo An’ Henry (8) for Graham Thomson has each-way claims after running a good third first up over the distance behind Are Jay Lochie, then dropped back to the 380m last week for a third behind Queen Villa.

Race 5 is the Animal Naturals 5th Grade over 498m. Crackerjac­k Cash (1) for Brad Belford is having his first look over the distance, he has won over the 500m at Bendigo and 460m at Geelong and should do fine. He needs to jump for a place chance.

Queen Of Dough (3) for Rhonda Essery ran a great race last week running second behind Looming Lara and she will be the danger.

Shake The Paint (6) for Rhonda Essery ran a good third last week behind Looming Lara and is a place chance.

Race 6 is the FV Napier 4/5th Grade over 498m. Shaun’s Entity (8) for Rhonda Essery won a heat of the Townsville Cup in 28.57 from box one and after being freshened up, has each-way claims.

Rhonda’s Dougie (7) also from the Essery kennels jumped well from the eight box last week to lead for most of the race before being run down by Super Sting and has each-way claims.

Brindi Chopper (6) for Michael Pandelakis has had a big campaign both in Brisbane and Townsville and is a danger.

Race 8 is the Michael Pandelakis Best 8 over 380m. Soft Sand (1) for Brad Belford won here last week in 21.66 and should start favourite.

Dream Amore (2) for George Tsakissiri­s has been in fine form will be the big danger to the favourite.

Sharhelian Star (4) for Arthur Gosper has been out for a month with injury, but before that had won four straight so watch the market.

Owners, trainers and patrons, note kennelling closes at 6.30pm, with the first race scheduled for 7.15pm.
