‘Gids’ returns to FULLBACK OFFERS SIMPLE REMEDY add some spark

COWBOYS fullback Scott Drinkwater believes North Queensland need to rediscover the joy in playing rugby league as they look to dig themselves out of their late-season slump against the Broncos tomorrow night.

The Cowboys have lost six of their past seven games heading into the Queensland derby, including a 28-4 defeat to the Wests Tigers last weekend which has left their finals hopes in tatters.

Drinkwater has only been in Townsville for five games after signing on mid season from Melbourne and the Cowboys have managed just one win in that time – a thrilling 15-12 triumph over the Roosters.

The 22-year-old admitted the losses had THE taken Cowboys a mental toll, have but recalled believes the best speedster way for the Gideon Cowboys Gela-mosby to overcome their for frustrations tomorrow is to night’s start throwing showthe ball down around with and having the Broncos fun. at 1300SMILES “We’ve been losing Stadium – just – as and it probcoach ably does Paul take Green a toll and looks it gets for frustrating,” more Drinkwater strike said. from their backline. “Although we haven’t won the past few

He has played just 10 games across his three seasons in first grade, but Gela-mosby could be considered unlucky this season after suffering a broken collarbone in attempting to score a sensational diving try against the Titans back in June.

The 22-year-old has been strong for feeder team the Northern Pride since making his injury comeback and Green was hopeful that GelaMosby could unleash his best against the Broncos.

“He’s come back from that collarbone injury pretty well,” Green said.

“He probably took a couple of games to get his match fitness back a little bit, but you certainly know what you’re going to get with ‘Gids’. It’s an opportunity for him, so I’d like to see him use it for that.”

Green said the Cowboys were still stinging after last weekend’s 28-4 loss to the Wests Tigers and he was adamant they wouldn’t be short of motivation against traditional rivals Brisbane.

“I think everyone here’s hurting about where the club is and what’s panned out so far,” he said.
