On floorplan to success

- YASMIN BONNELL

A LOCAL family has opened the doors to a one-stop shop for home fit-outs in Townsville with the idea to expand in the future.

Tamara and Dean Parfrey officially opened their franchise stores National Tiles and Carpet Call on Saturday.

Mrs Parfrey said the 705sq m site on Bayswater Rd in Garbutt offered them the opportunity to combine both stores in the one location for the convenience of their customers.

“The idea grew from just a National Tiles store to having two businesses in the one showroom,” Mrs Parfrey said.

“It’s convenient for customers. If they’re short on time they can just come in and do it all at once.

“We are also planning to expand into window furnishings and really make it a one-stop shop.”

Mrs Parfrey said the business was a family venture, with Townsville being the Parfreys’ home town.

“We decided to open the store because Dean has been a tiler for the last 20 years and it was a natural progression for us to be able to grow in the industry and town we love,” she said.

“It is all about creating a better future for our three boys.”

National Tiles development manager John Zubovic said the region was a great destination for the store on the back of strong activity in the building industry.

“North Queensland is a significant step for the expansion of the National Tiles franchise network and Townsville ticks all the boxes,” Mr Zubovic said.

“We strongly believe that Townsville and the surrounding catchments are now primed for strong building activity, both domestically and commercially, as investment in the area increases.”

Mr Zubovic also said the family would be key to the store’s success.

“The most exciting part of the Townsville expansion is the franchisees themselves, Dean and Tamara,” he said.

“They are deeply entrenched in the local building sector and the passion they have shown so far will no doubt make this a great success.

“They have embraced our design suggestions and have invested in our technological advancements to help create the best experience for their customers.”

Leasing executive at Knight Frank Townsville Dan Place said the site offered ample opportunity for the business.

“It’s a quality asset in an exceptional location,” Mr Place said.

“National Tiles was quick to snap up the property and secure a longterm lease.

“The showroom benefits from ample onsite parking, rear access for loading and exposure to the highly trafficked Bayswater and Dalrymple roads intersection.”
