Trainer finds reward in clients’ successes MUSCLING UP TO CHALLENGE

- CAS GARVEY

RUNNING his own gym, looking after himself and helping others kick their health goals – personal trainer Paul Davis has plenty of reasons to jump out of the right side of the bed.

“My typical morning starts at 3am, when I spend 20 minutes of mindfulness, planning and goal setting for the day then breakfast,” the motivated 31year-old said.

“At 4am I open my gym The HQ with my first client, followed by one-on-one personal training sessions until late morning.

“At 10am I have my training session, then 11.30am to 2pm is admin and personal time.

“From 3-8pm I have more one-on-one personal training sessions with clients, 8pm is my second training session for myself before closing The HQ about 9/9.30pm.

“10pm is admin, planning the next day, dinner then rest.”

It’s a hectic schedule, but one Mr Davis says is fulfilling.

Over the three years of running The HQ, the former soldier said it was hard to choose his biggest client success story.

“Each client has their own story, from physical changes to mental and behavioural, the list is long,” Mr Davis said.

“If I had to choose one it would be my now best friend Des, who came to me to compete in his first fitness show, training five days a week and completely transforming his physique over eight months.”

For people wanting to kick the kilos or get healthy, he shared three tips:

>>Find your reason for wanting to make these changes and accountability that may be an issue.

>>Make sure your training and nutritional habits suit your goal.

>>And just like any other aspect of your life you wish to improve, educate yourself, find enjoyment in becoming a better version of yourself and your new lifestyle habits, create a routine and stay consistent.
