Million-dollar bucket list

- ELISABETH SILVESTER

ONLINE travel agent Tripadeal is giving one lucky person the chance to win $1 million to travel to some of the world’s most glamorous destinations.

With $200,000 to enjoy each year for five years, the winner can escape anywhere on the list of Tripadeal’s bucket-list hot spots including China, Japan, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Antarctica, Canada and the United States.

The lucky winner can also bring their partner, mates or family along for the ride.

The Townsville Bulletin hit The Strand to find out where people would go if they won the top prize.

Retiree Valerie Smith, 86, said she had travelled a lot during her life and would like to go back to Canada if she won the million dollars.

“I would go to Canada because it is the most beautiful country in the whole world in spring, summer and winter time,” she said. Year 9 student Lillianna Mclean, 15, said she was a beginner traveller so the top prize would change her life and allow her to explore the world.

“I haven’t travelled much yet so I would go to a lot of different countries if I won that money,” she said.

Coal miner Joshua William Smith, 36, said he would not stop travelling until he spent all the money if he ended up winning.

“I would go all over the world to see all the places that you only dream of and only get to see in magazines, the paper and on TV.”

Army recruit Colby Jack Daniels, 17, said he had never been outside Australia.

But he would like to explore America if he was lucky enough to win.

“I would travel to different places with a lot of landmarks and I would like to watch a hockey, football and baseball game in America,” he said.

Administration worker Emily Holroyd, 27, said she would use the money to drive around the globe to compare all the world’s different cultures.

“I would get a campervan and ship it where it needs to be shipped and go around Europe, South-east Asia, Africa and South America,” she said.

Government worker Michael Cox, 48, said he had always wanted to explore the northern and southern hemispheres. “I have always wanted to see both the Americas and that’s an expensive enterprise, and to do it in style, and you need that amount of cash,” he said.
