KIRWAN has topped the list as the most popular suburb in Townsville among homebuyers, with the latest Corelogic data revealing the most houses have sold in the area in the year to May.

More than 219 homes sold in the suburb during the 12 months, more than double the amount that sold in Annandale, which was the second most popular suburb in the region.

Michael Kues-sales, who owns two houses in Kirwan, having recently bought his second property, said the standard of houses in the area were good value.

“Kirwan is outside of the CBD but it’s still convenient in terms of being close to everything,” Mr Kues-sales said. “It’s also a clean and tidy suburb compared to others.

“I have one investment property in Kirwan and one that I live in; I did look around at other suburbs but in terms of value, the houses are definitely more modern and need less work than the ones in other areas.”

Ray White Kirwan agent Craig Pearce, who sold the property to Mr Kues-sales in Kirwan, said the suburb offered plenty of variety.

“Buyers are looking for top value for their money and Kirwan home prices now offer quality homes in great neighbourhoods for prices not seen for some time,” Mr Pearce said.

“Kirwan … always number of homes.

“This means buyers have a varied selection of house types to choose sells a larger from, be it older high-sets built in under and beautiful floorboards, up to today’s modern block and render homes with the newest features.”
