TEACHER AIDES KEEP SCHOOLS MOVING
Teacher aides around Townsville and beyond were celebrated for their hard work and dedication on Teacher Aide Day last week.
Queensland Education Minister Grace Grace joined close to 100 local teacher aides at Mundingburra State School for a celebratory breakfast, along with Mundingburra MP Coralee O’rourke and Townsville MP Scott Stewart.
Mundingburra State School deputy principal Sarah Comino said schools would not be the same without the passion and dedication of teacher aides.
“Teacher aides are highly valued professionals, who spend their days supporting teachers and students within our schools,” she said.
“We are fortunate to have a group of teacher aides at Mundingburra State School who show students every day how much they care about them and their learning.”
Ms Grace said teacher aides were critical in providing the best education for students.
She acknowledged some of Townsville’s longest-serving teacher aides who have all been working in local state schools for more than two decades.
“My heartfelt thanks go to teacher aides across the state for the positive difference they make to students, teachers and their school communities,” she said.
“People like Ros Denison from Aitkenvale State School have been working for the department for 36 years, with teacher aides such as Judy Turner, Debbie Armitage, Elaine Liddy, Peggy Thomson and Cheryl Cummings chalking up over 28 years,” she said.
“I know there’s hundreds of other teacher aides across Queensland who’ve dedicated their careers to supporting our students in state schools and I’d like to thank each and every one of them.”
Ms O’rourke thanked Townsville’s teacher aides for their tireless work and significant contribution to educating local kids.
