POLITICAL PARTY
Recently, a selected group of Year 6 students, Alexandra Greenwood (6A), Beau Rixon (6B), Isabella Mcrae (6C), Ava Mcdonald (6C), Amy Donaldson (6C) and Ashlee Turner (6C) from St Anthony’s Catholic College were given the honourable opportunity to participate in Townsville’s Youth Parliament.
We learnt the processes and operations that take place in Parliament House.
As soon as we arrived at the Townsville Entertainment Centre we were greeted by many fellow youth politicians and representatives.
The interior of the centre was reconfigured to display the already existent parliament chambers.
Each of us were thrilled to partake in our roles; proudly wearing our name badges representing our parliamentary title, collecting vital papers for future references or creating speeches to undertake new ideas for bills.
It was a very valuable experience and a great way to engage in future career opportunities.
All the youth representatives delivered outstanding speeches on education, sustainability or adjournment measures.
Students had a wonderful chance to showcase their great speaking, writing and researching abilities.
We were really thankful and appreciative of the huge effort of the Townsville Entertainment Centre and parliament team for their organisation in giving us such a realistic experience.
It was a tremendous occasion that was celebrated with many schoolchildren across the Townsville diocese.
We had a great time and would love to have the chance to participate in this truly amazing experience once again.
