Fireball Sam ready to roll

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds tonight with a 12-race program including five heats of 5th Grade over 380m.

Race 6 is the MCP Racing R/W over 498m.

Fireball Sam (2) for Clary Wilcox ran a good second last week from box four behind Rapid State.

She has drawn well tonight and will be the big danger.

Tracy’s Shadow (7) for Rhonda Essery flew the lids over this journey to lead for most of the way only to be run down by kennel mate Shake the Paint and is well in this again. Each way claims.

Heza Rapscallion (4) for Andrew Wooler ran a good third last week behind Shake The Paint and is well in this. Place chance.

Shake The Paint (8) for Rhonda Essery had a strong win last week from box two and she has drawn wide tonight and would prefer inside, but she has been getting stronger with her run home and is a place chance.

Race 7 is the Michael Pandelakis Best 8 over 380m. There are a few chances here including Flaming Moe (1) for Carol Pickard, which won last week from box six.

He has drawn well close to the rails and can begin on his night. Each way claims.

Old Mate Kick (2) for Joan Newnham is dropping back in distance tonight.

He loves the rail and is normally a good beginner and is a place chance.

Swap Me (6) for Brad Belford can begin on his night and with a clear run should run a bold race. Place chance.

Race 8 is the Wongabel Kennels FFA over 498m. Dalmatynski (3) for Joan Newnham won from this box last week and will be hard to beat.

Oliver Lee (7) for Jay Schafer won last week from six.

He has a good finish and will be the big danger.

Poppy Chooky (1) for Heath Ardle began well from box eight to lead for a long way before Dalmatynski flew home for a good win. Place chance.

Owners, trainers and patrons please note kennelling closes at 6.30pm with the first race scheduled for 7.15pm.
