Easy fix to fight crime

-

I REFER to the published letter on page 40, TB 28/9/19, penned, I assume, by Mr (Aaron) Harper in response to a penned letter from Mr (Dale) Last in response to Queensland Police pursuits.

Mr Harper advises that the Police set the pursuit policy.

Now, me being a cynic and with the absence of the separation of powers in Queensland, I find it difficult to believe that no senior politician has voiced his or her opinion on the matter that may have influenced the people documenting and administering the policy.

Mr Harper keeps going on about the extra police for Townsville, the question has to be why is it so difficult for Mr Harper to understand that if his government had some form of a deterrent in place to prevent crime we wouldn’t need more police. That is not rocket science.

The detention centres are run like holiday camps, fast food, flowered shirts … make detention centres unpalatable so people and criminals do not want to go back inside of them.

Mr Harper also mentions LNP boot camps where offenders broke out, you really have to question the mentality of the man.

May I remind him that under this Palaszczuk Government, the government he represents, the offenders walk in and out of the bail houses whenever they want, committing crime on the way, at a cost of millions of dollars to the taxpayer – yet another failed Palaszczuk Government initiative.

With regards to the Palaszczuk Government holding offenders to account and supporting the victims of crime, I assume the senior citizens who have had to barricade themselves in their home in fear of being broken into will be recompensed by the Government for the added expense.

And also when their stolen vehicle was wrecked for the fun of it, the Government would buy them either a new car or one comparable because insurance companies only give market value.

With regards to the police facility in Upper Ross, where did the police transfer from?

Was it local or were they drafted in, you say you fought hard, obviously you fought harder than supporting the farmers in the North recently.

One has to wonder if the three Palaszczuk Government representatives in Townsville voted recently for the $250 million handout to go to public servants and not the needy, like farmers with their backs to the wall.

Just a thought.
