BASKETBALL:
Melbourne United import Casey Prather is in doubt for tonight’s inaugural NBL ‘ Throwdown’ due to knee soreness.
United had managed Prather “pretty well” since re-signing the three-time NBL winner who endured similar issues last year in Europe.
In a double blow for the grand finalists, who open the NBL season tonight at Melbourne Arena against expansion team South East Melbourne Phoenix, veteran David Barlow has been ruled out with a thumb injury.
Barlow will also not travel with the team to Perth for Saturday’s grand final rematch and “at this stage” is likely to miss United’s whirlwind trip to Los Angeles for NBA pre-season games against the LA Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
