Why are families waiting so long to get housing, for a roof and protection from the weather and other dangers, when there are millions upon millions of dollars spent by the Government to build a safe building, with all of the luxuries that you can think of, for the people that are criminals which harm, steal from, and everything else, which have been “punished“by the law and sent to detention centre (luxury hotel). It’s not fair to the people that are doing it tough. Mick, Oak Valley

It seems Labor in Queensland has lost its way. All people r doing is using their legal right to protest against something that will deny our young people a future. Does a few people being late for work compare to a lack of future for our young? Joe Blake

I have no idea why the good citizens of Bris Vegas are complaining about the Extinction Rebellion protests. Let’s face it, they were the ones who voted in Labor and Greens so what did they expect? The sooner we have a divided state the better. Bris Vegas would become a ghost town within 12 months. Doc Condon

I would like to thank the customer service rep at Thuringowa on Tuesday am for ordering a replacement bin within six hours after I explained I needed a replacement bin. You r a credit to the customer service department. Thank you. mpepp4817

I agree Green Arrow, Beautiful poem was lovely to read as a new mum. Condolences to the Eggins family. Sallyj 4815

At a time when childhood obesity is so much to the fore, it beggars belief that a very large primary school in the form of Holy Spirit Townsville does not have a single PE teacher. Maybe someone should please explain! Caz Kirwan

To the postman who delivers mail in Lara Street Cranbrook, your thoughtfulness is much appreciated! Lyn 4814

Visitors on the increase. Not sure where they are. I went to Palmer Street and the restaurants are closed. The CBD looks closed and for lease. Went to Magnetic Island and couldn’t do a tour because they were not operating that day. Youth unemployment is high, crime rates are high, empty shops everywhere, no international flights. I hope the stadium and new dive thing works for our city. I’m going to call it for what it is, fake news. Charlie 4818 Re Steve Belgium Gardens, there is no denying that electricity can be produced with solar and wind but there are times when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine, and yes you can use batteries but at what cost? If these options were viable from both an initial install cost and an ongoing operating cost basis why aren’t private businesses knocking themselves over building the farms and selling the power? The reality is that solar and wind power is not a reliable base load power supply so we still need reliable base load supply. Nuclear power is used worldwide and in fact there has been a nuclear power plant in Sydney for decades. Nuclear power does not have to be generated using uranium, thorium is a far safer alternative and far more abundant. The problem with thorium is that it can’t be used to make bombs so the efforts put into developing it as a power source are limited. If the green army are serious about saving the world from itself they should start taking off their blinkers and looking beyond the old solar and wind chestnuts. Mount Low Murdy

Why should Scott Stewart care or worry about how much his new office cost, or will cost? He doesn’t pay for it, we do! It seems a lot to spend for very little return in the way of results from the T’ville MP, but it’s what we’ve come to expect from this Gov. Farmers can eat dirt and the state can go to hell in a handbasket, but our MPS live a life of luxury. Ags Hermit Pk

Bad enough to read the cost of the MP’S new digs. But that he doesn’t KNOW the cost tells us all we need to know. Tip: ”How much will this cost the taxpayers?” should be the VERY first question you ask yourself and yet it didn’t even make your list. Phtttt. Robert W Pimlico It seems reasonable that a member of parliament should be able to meet with “10 or 12 people” in their office without having to sit in each other’s laps. Sounds like the old 1990s-era office was past its use-by-date a long time ago, so isn’t a better question why has it taken so long to replace? Being close to all the other departmental building tenants seems like a shrewd move, too. Steve, Belgian Gardens

I hope Scott Stewart’s new office improves his efficiency. He took 110 days to reply to my email last year. Mt Louisa Al

Showing a Northern European around Townsville, he made a great point. Our town is designed for cars not people, it’s nearly impossible to walk anywhere and nobody bicycles. Sad state of affairs. Brett Deeragun

In response to Weezer text. Not all people cannot walk 5O0 metres because of health. So give some thought to the elders. Rusty, Kirwan

Interesting how there appears to be two disparate groups of homeless people in Nth Qld, a bit like the deserving poor. One group, veterans, receive community support & empathy while another, eg people in Dean Park, are considered as enabled because they receive homelessness services & are expected to move on. Surely all homeless people need our support & empathy. Many of us may only be a couple of paychecks away from homelessness ourselves. JH Bel. Gdns

Reading TB 11/10 page 5, judge has axed the fine a student earned for obstruction and causing disruption on a rail line. The little darling could not afford the fine. What a joke. No thought of consequences for actions just poor me and I should not be penalised. Get ready for lots more pleading poor. Jay, Bushy Beach

?? ?? The homeless itinerants have been around the city and parks for decades and all moves have been failures. Just where are you going to move them? M J Reynolds, Mt Louisa
