‘BEST’ GIFTS MAKE EARLY ARRIVAL

- MATT TAYLOR

TOWNSVILLE families have been given the greatest gift of all on Christmas Day, the gift of life.

Townsville Hospital delivered the bundles of joy to beaming families whose Christmas plans were put on hold.

Iverson Kenneth surprised his parents after being born to Kim Peterstorfer and Nate Seiuli at 7.10am, a few weeks earlier than his expected date on January 15.

The proud parents said they joked about the thought of him arriving on Christmas Day but said they never expected it.

“We did laugh about it and then when Kim’s water broke we thought ‘oh, he might actually come on Christmas Day’, and he ended up wanting to come out,” Nate said.

“It’s just a bit easier now (with Christmas and birthdays on the same day).

“I’ll buy him one present, a toy, for r Christmas and then for his birthday I’ll l buy him the batteries.”

While Iverson is still yet to meet his s two brothers and three sisters on mum’s s side, he is Nate’s first child.

The early delivery meant Kim’s family had to organise an emergency chef for lunch as mum Kim had planned on cooking the Christmas spread.

Next door at the maternity ward, Palm Island couple Kheona Baira and Clinton Pearson were celebrating the arrival of their new baby girl Samone.

She arrived at 1.12am with the couple hoping to be out of hospital in the afternoon to spend time with their new bundle of joy. She was expected to arrive next Monday.

The couple described her as the “biggest” and “best” Christmas present ever.
