Switched on despite snag

The attitude from his players was on point, according to the coach.

“The girls enjoyed themselves for Christmas but there was nothing silly, they all came in (yesterday) morning ready for work,” Seebohm said.

“Definitely good to see that attitude. They are professionals, they understand what is at stake and that they have a job to do.

“We are lucky to get to play basketball for a living, and (not) getting time off at Christmas is one of the sacrifices that comes with that. We get other benefits being professionals.”

With Bishop under an injury cloud, it is expected the forward will play reduced minutes against the Boomers, a philosophy Seebohm may have to apply to most of the starting five.

All five of the Fire’s starters have averaged close to 30 minutes on the court over the past three games, and have responded in kind with all reaching double figures in the 82-77 loss to the Lynx last weekend.

But with them playing two games in two days during the extended road trip in Victoria, Seebohm said that approach might need to be tweaked.

“(Bishop) will be 100 per cent for the game, it is just a management thing to make sure she is right to play,” he said.

“As of right now we will be going with the same line-up (that lost to Perth).

“I think we will have a look at it this week and given we have two games back-to-back, we might manage it differently.

“Other people may get more opportunity (on court) and how they are playing will determine if they get a lot more or not.”

Seebohm singled out Boomers import Lindsay Allen as the Fire’s biggest threat at the State Basketball Centre tonight with the American guard coming off a 22 point, six rebound showing in a win over Adelaide Lightning.
