Jack of trendy bishops

-

SAVE us from trendy bishops of the Tim Harris sort, as per page 1 and 5 of the Bulletin yesterday.

Both of them seem to hunt in packs.

As Catholics we attend St Joseph’s and St Francis Xavier on a Tuesday and Sunday, and quite frankly we are jack of the trendy nonsense being spouted by Bishop Harris in the pages of your newspaper over a long period.

As Catholics we have to obey the teachings of the church, on matters of faith and morals, handed down ex cathedra.

Other than those items, we are on our own, the caveat being that we must lead a Christian life, with all that this implies.

Quite frankly we are jack of trendy bishops trying to push their trendy views down our throats, day in, day out.

Bishop Tim seems to think in his joint article with the Anglican bishop that ordinary people should refuse jobs at Adani, preferring to be forced onto Centrelink perhaps? More inner city trendiness!

The mine and its systems have been approved by the State Government. Would Annastacia Palaszczuk have given her approval if it was having an effect on the GBR and underground water systems? I don’t think so!

Most people believe that one of our bushfire problems is the refusal of local councils to approve ground cover clearing, many having been converted to the green-left religion.

There has also been an abnormal rise in arsonist behaviour, which has not helped matters.

I also presume that their closing remarks on Pacific Islands, and associated climate change, is an attempt by both bishops relating to the perennial furphy that Pacific Islanders are being threatened by rising sea levels, whereas informed scientific advice is that most of these atolls are increasing in size, and those which are not remain stable!

A closer to home issue is that our parishioner/attendee base on a Sunday is decreasing, ie we are all getting older, and I would think that a more pressing issue for both bishops would be to attend to their flock, while bringing more people back to the faith, in an attempt to stem this alarming demographic shift, rather than preaching new

‘green religions’ which quite frankly are beyond their combined remit, and accordingly are ultra vires.

Frankly speaking, both should be advised to think again about the ordinary people who are their parishioners, and try to get out more.
