Superb statue does us all – and JT – proud

-

OK, how long?

In fact it may be happening right now … how long before someone, no names, puts a tropical shirt on that magnificent statue of Johnathon Thurston! Or fair dinkum head gear! That’s what we do, it’s a North Queensland thing, all in fun.

But what a truly superb statue, it has incredible movement, well done Janey, your masterpiece does us all proud. Shows up that other super famous statue, what is it, ahh yes ‘David’. I bet JT’S happy you didn’t try to do similar so that all he had was a football, so to speak. He looks as if he’s actually about to kick that ball and land it through the window, top floor of the Sugar Shaker.

To our mates at the Sugar Shaker, hope you’re putting up a ‘Go Cowboys’ sign around stadium side. It would look marvellous. After all, over the years, our profile has been the Sugar Shaker and our incredible Cutheringa, now the ‘Horseshoe’ takes a place of honour too.

It will be a most wonderful addition to our great and growing city, if we help it, if we believe in it, and most important, believe in ourselves too. A gathering place of a fantastic people to laugh together, cheer together, and sing Elton John songs badly together!

Most importantly, let’s use it to forget about those things that are certainly bringing us down, and this great city down, and no the stadium will not be used as Cleveland 2. No doubt there’ll be a few things to fix up, I bet the rain gave it a good test, in fact the rain was so good it even made the fake turf grow.

It looked magnificent last Saturday, but what looked better was the smiles, the wonder, and the happy shouts of “I found my seat” and to think, none of them have chewing gum under them! Yet.

OUR TOWNSVILLE IS TRAVELLING A WONDERFUL NEW ROAD

A HORSESHOE, A NIPPER, WHAT WILL IT BE,

JUST NOT A DUNNY SEAT FOR HAVING A P.

THE BEACHES, THE ISLE, THE GREAT CORAL SEA

THIS ARENA IS OWNED BY YOU AND ME, A MAGNIFICENT STADIUM AT THE FOOT OF OUR HILL
