Wonderful stadium has room for improvement

-

I AM not a Townsville resident, but I am a frequent visitor.

I was lucky to get tickets to Elton John on Saturday night at your wonderful new stadium.

Unfortunately, it was not ready for the number of people who attended.

The cab driver who picked me up had no idea where the cab rank at the stadium was. When we got to the stadium, there was a lack of signage regarding bays and it took three tries to find our correct seat.

Leaving after the concert was a complete debacle, which highlighted the total lack of planning and infrastructure needed to move 20,000-plus people leaving a venue en mass.

It took one-and-a-half hours to get back to West End:

• Signage for taxis and shuttle buses was almost non-existent.

We asked for assistance and were given different directions;

• The line for taxis was almost 1km long so we asked where the shuttle buses were leaving from and no one could tell us;

• We then walked into the city and stood at the taxi rank outside of Cowboys for 45 minutes waiting for a cab;

• The taxi driver who finally picked us up said that he wasn’t going back to the stadium as no one knew what they were doing, he was going to keep going back into the city to pick people up who had walked there looking for a cab.

Please take this feedback as an opportunity for improvement for coming events. It will definitely need to improve or the stadium will become a white elephant.

ELISABETH ELDER, Westlake.
