Dear TCC, could you please place signs at the car park entry and before the Riverway Lagoons alerting people that the amenities are out of service? The lagoons are lovely but we do need toilets. Have you not heard our voice when the ‘donga’ amenity buildings were locked ready for removal? No notice was given beforehand to prepare people. You want people to pee in the pool?

Re Police busy with ‘kiddie crims’; they can’t all be that busy: my 85-year-old dad got a $53 fine for his broken down car out the front of its registered address, dropped by RACQ, the wrong direction I admit.

But give us a break, dropped late Thurs. arvo; couldn’t get it in anywhere until Monday! Also, a bit of an ask for an 85-yearold & his 56-year-old daughter to push inside, in the wet, 11:09pm on a Saturday, must’ve been a slow one hey? Was told it may’ve been a ‘concerned’ neighbour! If that’s the case, get a life!

Car owners are now just as irresponsible as the kids stealing their cars. With 41 cars stolen last week, surely it’s time that lazy owners locked their cars and kept their car keys out of sight? Our coppers must be massively frustrated both with the crims and the car owners.

Clean Up Australia day over the weekend, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of school age volunteers, the kids were happy to sacrifice a day of school for a climate change march and want to ban plastic from polluting the environment, there was plenty of plastic to be picked up around the country over the weekend! Where were you? And you kids wonder why Boomers look at the climate change movement with scepticism. Maybe the organisers should hold the event during the week and not over the weekend.

Opening pages 10 & 11 of Friday’s Bully suddenly made me sit up and gulp my morning cuppa down. At long last we now have a council election coming up that gives us some varied and worthwhile choices, and who could contribute a range of new ideas into the decision making process. And it’s good to see that voters in divisions where the sitting member had no opposition, now have a choice of whom to vote for. So, bring it on!

On Covid 19 (TB, 2/3) – notice it took just two weeks for our health authorities to go from “won’t happen here” to “not a matter of if, but when”?

MINER, KELSO

Belly, Rasmussen – spot on. Why should our four mayoral hopefuls only face business people chomping on bacon and eggs. You will get a far better range of questions from a good old fashioned town hall type meeting with people with some fire in their belly. Perhaps the new Bulletin editor could convene this example of democracy in it’s purest form.

Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington proposes to double maximum penalty for nonlethal strangulation and support changes to criminal law involving domestic violence. These cowards must be dealt with. This is a vote winner so where are you Premier dreaming up more spin or does your Olympics bid hold primary spot on the calendar?

CARL. PIMLICO

Great idea BELLY, RASMUSSEN. TTE 2/3. How about the ‘Mayoral Debate’ be held on a semi trailer in Strand Park or Jezzine or somewhere similar. Memories of the Whitlam/gorton debate in 1972.

At one time I would have agreed with you Tony 4812, but did you never see Shane Webcke play. At least equal of Lazo. What about Steve Price, or the bloke who really raised the bar above all others, Petero Civonceva. Did you never see them play.

I took her hand in marriage mate that was special and I’ve heard my first born cry I’ve seen the sights of ancient Egypt and in France from the Eiffel Tower up high I’ve stood and gazed at Uluru and wondered how and why. And if I live to be a 100 mate I’ll be happy when I die because I have seen the sweetest thing in life my friend a Matty Bowen try.

LEE CONDON

Wow! The Cowboys lose a game and don’t blame the ref. But the real season hasn’t begun so guess we will just have to wait and see if they can take a loss on the chin.

JC IDALIA

Well said Raelene Boyle. We should get rid of all cheats in sport.

I was another cynic thinking the stadium/ concert was gonna be a fizzer. Boy was I wrong! Amazing venue and Elton lifted the roof off. Well done Townsville! Turns out we can have nice things.

The dregs of society, thankfully in the minority of patrons at the Elton John concert, who sought to abuse the staff on the turnstiles because their tickets failed to scan need to realise the staff after advising them to take the ticket to the Ticketmaster office close by, followed procedure. It’s obvious, these people who “think” the world revolves around them need to realise it doesn’t, and would they like their family members to be abused, just doing the job, they are trained to do.

Thank you to the lovely couple who gave us their tickets to the Elton John concert when they had to leave. From the couple sitting outside listening to the music. MG 4814

GJ, HYDE PARK, all other new stadiums have more than one option of public transport like trains, trams & buses. Plus they all virtually stop at the ground gates. That’s why they need carparks close by, especially for the elderly and disabled.

PAUL ALICE RIVER

Sick of having the law abiding majority being punished for the sins of a tiny minority. The government’s constant knee jerk reactions are eroding our rights. I don’t even have a gel blaster, but there is total lunacy in punishing people going out and having fun and social time together with them because some losers use them for evil purposes.

The lack of a hydro on the Burdekin is holding NQ back. We could be leading the nation in contributing to Australia’s prosperity.

Jan 4815. I live in Annandale and trust me there is no special treatment over this side of town. I can guarantee that if anyone is getting special treatment or just treatment for that matter they will not be living in Townsville.

?? ?? I went to Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday night and what a fantastic facility. Leaves the old stadium for dead and makes one realise how much this new stadium was needed. I hope the naysayers come out and support anything that is held there and appreciate what has been delivered. I sure will be.
