Velocity Layla tipped to set a cracking pace

-

THE punters will be given a reprieve at the Townsville Showground tonight in the running of the GBD Concrete Services 4/5th Grade over 498m.

The exciting race will be part of an 11-race program at the Townsville Greyhound Club, and appears to be one for the short-priced runners.

Velocity Layla, who will jump from box eight, won for trainer Clary Wilcox on Sunday over the 380m from a similarly wide draw. She looms as a strong frontrunner.

Tears For Glory (1) for Matthew Mcguire has been racing well over the 380m and steps up in distance tonight, she has placed over the 520m at Wentworth Park and won over the 400m at Richmond so has the credentials.

Who Nose Size (7) for Allan Metcalfe has been the bridesmaid over this journey in her past four starts. She is a fair beginner with a strong finish. Vegas Talks (3) for Brad Belford won the Young Guns Final over this distance last week from box eight. He has drawn closer to the rails and could provide trouble for the favourites.

Dundee Jive (6) for Michael Pandelakis has been knocking on the door in her past three starts. She is a fair beginner and with a clear run could be a big show.

Race 9 is the Marina Fresh Seafood Best 8 over 380m. Favourite for this race will be the Arthur Gosper trained Sharhelian Star (4). She won last week over the journey from box two and should lead this field again.

Premier Return (2) for Robert Lound is a good beginner on her night and should be the danger to the favourite.

Kennelling for tonight’s meeting closes at 5.53pm with the first race at 6.38pm.
