All our health workers deserve big thanks

- with Steve Price steve.price@townsvillebulletin.com.au

Dear Reader,

In regards to my absence from this page last week, I remember when at school for those few days, one of which I wagged … I mean I was sick … I had to write a note to explain.

That is to say, Mum had to write a note. So, I thought it best to do that once more. I’ll write the note to go to the editor and I’ll get Mum to sign it … later, same same eh!

Dear Mister Editor, I’m little Stevie Price’s Mummy, and I know how much of a really, really good boy he is, but he has a tummy ache, so please forgive him for not coming to school … sorry … your paper last week.

My good little boy has had more tests than the Aussie cricket team, and given more blood than the Aussie public has to the tax department, so hopefully by tomorrow he will have answers for you.

Signed

Pricey’s Mum.

PS. Has his spalin improovd?

There it is, do you think Mum will sign it and the editor will believe it?

I have been a little crook, and I know it’s something you don’t write about, so they tell me, but why not?

We all get crook, and we silly scribes belong to our readers, so why not share the adventure, and the absolutely marvellous people you meet on the way.

In these days where our health is top of mind, and our incredible health workers in the line of fire, I reckon it’s our time also to say thanks and good on you to all of them.

And most important, all of ’em, not only front line, but the girls on the reception desk, the happy blokes and ladies who come pick up the bins, the floor polishers are always there with a smile, all there to make a tough time … well … untougher!

None of us want to see it first-hand, but other illnesses don’t just stop because there’s a naughty virus hanging around.

So we need to keep up our charity sponsorships too, eh, if we possibly can.

Over the past week and a half I’ve seen immense kindness and understanding by our health workers to all who they see.

Early one morn at our uni hospital, in the next cubicle, there was loud language more colourful than my shirts and anger, yet the nurses were quietly spoken, kind, understanding and showed incredible empathy. The lady doctor was truly wonderful.

Other things happened, I may add, but these medical professionals handled it all superbly. They could fix up any mess in the Middle East, I reckon.

The wonderful girls who took my blood, you’re amazing. If ever you leave, you’d make a fortune working for Shell Oil. You could find it anywhere.

I’m not allowed to mention any full names, though I’d love to, but the doctors have been marvellous, went above and beyond as they do for all, Dr Stephen, Dr Mater Mick, Dr Saj, Dr Orna, and I would’ve probably seen Doctor Who too, but he didn’t have the space or time.

We see many thank yous to our docs and all medical staff in our text the editor column, I simply wanted to add mine.

Happy Days!

Ooroo!
