Libs need new leader

-

THE State LNP, in my view, have failed to gain any traction while in Opposition. They are giving the Premier and Government a free ride and Queenslanders no alternatives to consider at the ballot box.

The only LNP government to date, which was led by Campbell Newman, did put the state back on course financially but got the messaging wrong by going too hard too quickly.

The people responded and Palaszczuk triumphed. It seems voters have had little to consider about the LNP since.

The problem sits squarely with the leaders. For those who don’t know her, Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington is a nice capable person but as the alternate Premier has not shown how her government would perform any better than Labor.

The Opposition has been way too light on the ground, seems somewhat confused whether they are the champions of the city or the country.

Consequently, the Premier’s run into the election is set.

Thinking that Labor will lose the election rather than how do we win is a dangerous team psyche to have.

Buckle up Queensland, we may be in for another four years of Labor unless, maybe, just maybe the current LNP leader is prepared to step back for now and give someone else a go.

I sense Ms Frecklington may have much to offer and would serve Queenslanders well in any Cabinet. It is just not her time to lead. If an alternative leader does exist, he or she needs with Deb’s blessing, to step forward now, to challenge the Premier and Labor’s record come October and give those on the conservative side of the House reason to fight for a return to government.

Deb, you can say you played your part, live to lead another day, unscathed.
