HAPPENED to drive by the Castle Hill PCYC yesterday, first thought was ‘oh look how close that housing development has got to the swimming pool – how long before the wrecking ball continues along to the east?’ JEFF, NTH WARD

Has a 5-year-old taken control of every set of traffic lights in Townsville? All weekend I’ve been waiting at major intersections, only for the lights to go green for five seconds then back to red. JAMES, ANNANDALE

Did anyone watch Channel Nine’s report on the cash splurge on Palm Island? Even imprisoned & passed away received a cheque. Who was in charge of what seems a major stuff up wasting taxpayers’ money and who is accountable? Will anyone from state level look into this? I think not. CB, HERMIT PARK

Re Sally 4812, well said, also, Ark 4816, shove over, I will stand with you but grab the hose. JEFF VINCENT, 4810

Just reading John Mellon’s letter to the editor. A lot of snide remarks at the LNP. I wonder where John has had his head for the last 20 years, when it comes to selling the state. Well I can tell you. Who sold our ports? Labor. Who sold the state’s forests? Labor. Who sold off Queensland Rail freight? Labor. Who gave millions of dollars of contracts to NSW. Yes, John, it was Labor, so maybe you should do your homework before you write another letter. HERBIE, CLUDEN

I agree Sally 4812. If it’s good enough for the footy boys it’s good enough for me. So stuff this state (SE Qld gov). PETER, AYR

Hey Tom Mundingburra, I agree with what you say about Sam Cox but not about Deb Frecklington. I’m a conservative voter but she doesn’t have a profile & will struggle at the Oct election. Do your own survey & ask say 10 people that you don’t know who is the leader of the LNP & I’d be surprised if 2 or 3 got it correct. MAX, KIRWAN

Just wondering why when they report cases of COVID-19 they only use numbers and not percentages. Maybe it’s because the percentages would be so low they couldn’t call it a pandemic and they wouldn’t be newsworthy. Flu infections are far higher and kill more people each year. RAYB, KIRWAN

I had to chuckle as I drove past Aaron Harper’s billboard that says “Gets it done”. Gets what done? You’re happy to stamp your name on so many infrastructural achievements but let’s face it, they would’ve been done with or without you Aaron. SALLY, KIRWAN

Have to agree with Shane Airlie and Ark 4816. Apparently the winter burnoff season is upon us, and there will not be enough firies to conduct it safely. We know who to blame if fires are out of control this summer. It’s crass stupidity. AGS, HERMIT PK

Palaszczuk’s blue card shemozzle will result in understaffing of brigades putting communities at risk and firies in mortal danger. They’ll stop at nothing to protect children from paedophiles regardless of how tiny the risk. Minister Crawford said the government could “never be too vigilant” about child safety. Tell that to those at risk of being burned! SHANE, AIRLIE

So China wants to place a large tariff on our barley. Barley makes beef and beer. More beer from up here, for us, and the rest of the world. Maybe we should feed our expensive barley to our beef and up the price of our beef and beer to China? Always more than one way to skin a cat. KERRY, WEST END

I may be a bit thickheaded, but in every piece of news featuring a scene of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, we see the Australian flag alongside the Chinese flag. No flags from any other countries are visible. Can anyone tell me why this is so? D. BILTON, W/END
