ATV man warned: ‘Grow up’

- MIKAYLA MAYOH

A NEW father and business owner who put his business at risk when he drove a side-byside ATV through a Mcdonald’s drive-through has been told to grow up.

Ayr Magistrates Court heard that at 10.20pm on March 26 police received a call from a Mcdonald’s Ayr employee stating three people had travelled through the drivethrough while drinking beer.

Police intercepted the vehicle shortly after, where the driver, Justin Angelo Minuti, recorded a 0.136 per cent blood-alcohol reading.

Minuti pleaded guilty to one count of drive while over the middle alcohol limit but not over the high alcohol limit.

Groves and Clarke defence solicitor Danny Burke said the part owner of Tracpower’s actions were “idiotic” but “something that has come out of a lot of stress, a lot of new stress”.

“He’s only recently just had a baby as well so he has put a lot of burden on (his wife) now that he will not be able to drive her and the baby to any appointments,” Mr Burke said.

“Ultimately the community in the Burdekin and in Queensland are reeling at the moment from the result of quad bike incidents.”

Magistrate Ross Mack said Minuti had put his entire business at risk.

“He’s been drinking, he needs his licence for work, he gets his mates or his work mates who are drinking … and he drives through the Mcdonald’s drive-through, bound to draw attention,” Mr Mack said.

“Time to grow up, time to take this seriously … it’s an adult world now.

“How do you possibly think that your employees can take you seriously when you are doing this? You’re at the point now where you set the mark and the standard.”

Minuti was granted a work licence from 5.30am to 8pm.
